Our Mission

The Mia La Maven Foundation provides assistance for children who are battling cancer while facilitating financial and emotional support for their families. The foundation is named in honor of Mia Helena Sidaros. At the age of 13, Mia was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric sarcoma. The next four years would bring both progress and setbacks. Ultimately Mia lost her battle in May of 2015, at the age of 17.

Despite her own painful battle, Mia was selfless. During her extended stays in UCLA’s pediatric unit, she gave countless hours to other children in the hospital who were fighting similar battles, even while she was enduring treatments herself. Through fun snacks, arts and crafts, reading or just spending time, she reached out to others spreading positivity, and hope. Children whose families couldn’t always afford to be at the hospital through their stay could count on Mia to make the difference in their day.

Mia’s passion and love for life is vividly recalled by those who were around her and our ultimate goal is to continue Mia’s legacy of love and giving. The aspirations of the Mia La Maven Foundation is to perpetuate her kindness and motivate philanthropic involvement in the greater Los Angeles area.
